Coffee worth slowing down for.

“We’d rather serve one bean honestly than five beans that look impressive on a shelf.”

We started Ember in 2019 with a simple conviction: good coffee should be traceable, intentional, and worth your time. We source directly from farms in Ethiopia, Colombia, and Guatemala, roast every batch by hand in our workshop, and serve each cup with the care it deserves.

    About Ember

    Inside the Ember Coffee roastery

A place to sit, breathe, and taste something real.

Ember grew out of a two-year journey across coffee farms in East Africa and Central America. What started as curiosity became a conviction: that specialty coffee can be more honest, more personal, and more connected to the people who grow it.

Our roastery sits on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch, inside a converted workshop with east-facing windows and a 15kg Probat roaster. We keep things simple: a short menu, a few tables, good light, and beans we can stand behind. No shortcuts, no spectacle. Just craft.

    The Team

Ember is four people: Anna sources across East Africa and has opinions about washed processing. Lukas writes the roast profiles and will talk you through drum rotation for an hour if you ask. Mira runs the bar and was a UK Barista Championship finalist in 2024. Tom arrives at 5am to make the cardamom rolls everyone talks about. We all taste on every batch before it leaves the roastery.

    Kind Words

On the press board & the guest book.

“One of the best roasteries in East London. The Yirgacheffe is exceptional, and the team clearly loves what they do.”

The flat white here is the reason I moved offices. Everything is dialled in, the room is calm, and the staff actually know how to pull a proper shot.

Took the V60 workshop with Mira. Best teacher I've had, and my home coffee is unrecognisable. Worth every penny.

Lovely coffee and genuinely warm staff. Only gripe: the window seats get quite cold in winter and there's no booking system, so we've been turned away twice on Saturdays.

The cardamom bun + piccolo combo is a crime against productivity. Worth every distracted afternoon.
